LAN Manager Utilities Disks
---------------------------

The LAN Manager Utilities Disks contain internally developed tools, 
network management applications, games, and other utilities for use with 
LAN Manager networks.  We have selected the utilities customers use
and request most.  All files on these disks are freely
shareable, although you may not charge for them.

Please note that all utilities on these disks are provided "as is."  
They are unsupported, although you are welcome to ask questions on 
Compuserve (MSNETWORKS forum), Microsoft Support Advantage, and via your 
Network Specialist; however, we cannot guarantee that your questions 
will be answered or that bugs will be fixed.  These utilities were 
developed by Microsoft employees in their spare time but have not gone 
through the design review, user interface review, code review, testing, 
documentation, and support/training processes that official Microsoft 
products go through.  In short, use these utilities with care and at 
your own risk.

We welcome feedback on the utilities and plan to add more utilities in 
the future.  The LAN Manager utilities will be posted on Compuserve in 
the MSL library.

Each utility has its own method for installation.  See the README.TXT 
file included with each utility for installation instructions.

The utilities are organized in directories as described below.
The DEBUG, FUN, and NETMGMT utilities directories are on Disk 1.
The TOOLS utilities directory is on Disk 2.

DEBUG
-----
	CCT						Dan Hughes

		Queries Protocol Manager and displays the NDIS Common 
		Characteristic Table information.  Runs on MS-DOS machines.

	CHKUAS						Richard Ward

		Checks and/or repairs the NET.ACC file.  Runs on MS OS/2 
		servers.

	NETBIOSP					Margaret Johnson

		"PING" and STATUS utilities for NetBIOS transports.  
		PING has MS-DOS and MS OS/2 versions.  STATUS 
		runs on MS-DOS machines.

	SQLPIPE						Kevin Ruggles

		Tests named pipes.  MAKEPIPE requires an MS OS/2 machine.
		READPIPE runs on MS-DOS and MS OS/2 machines.

	TABLES						David Kanz

		Displays hard-disk partition table information on MS OS/2
		machines.

FUN

	WINPHONE					Ray Patch

		Answering machine-like message utility for MS Windows 		
		clients.


NETMGMT

	NETMON						David Kanz

		NDIS-conforming network traffic analyzer. Runs on MS OS/2
		machines.

	NINFOVB						Margaret Johnson

		Network Information export to Microsoft Excel.  Runs on an 
		MS Windows machine.  Written in Visual Basic.

	PERFGRAF					from VB Toolkit for LM
							and Kevin Schofield

		Remote server Performance Meter.  Front end runs on MS 
		Windows machine.  Back end runs on an MS OS/2 server.

	STAT						Ken Reneris

		Two real-time network performance meters for MS OS/2 machines.

	20ADDPAK					Mac Paul McLain

		Allows LM 2.0 AddPaks to be installed on LM 2.1 servers. 
		Runs on MS OS/2 servers.

	3COMUTIL					Danny Glasser

		Converts 3+Name accounts to LAN Manager accounts.  Runs on 
		MS OS/2 servers.

	INGROUP						Steve Hiskey

		Command-line/batch-file tool to determine if a user is in a 
		particular group.  MS-DOS and MS OS/2.

	LOWDENSI					Robert Hogue

		Creates low-density LAN Manager 2.1 MS-DOS workstation 
		install disks.

	MERGEACC					Warren Marts

		Transfers user accounts and groups from one MS OS/2 server to 
		another.

		LIST	-	Displays a text file  (OS/2 only)
		WALK  	-	"Walks" files in a directory, allowing

		Help is available via /? for each of these utilities.  BINR 
		contains MS-DOS versions.  BINP contains MS OS/2 versions.  
		BINB contains bound versions for both operating systems.

	
	NET2COM						Glen Clark

		Allows MS-DOS machines to share modems on MS OS/2 servers.

	NETFIND						Keith Moore

		Searches network for LAN Manager servers.  MS-DOS and MS OS/2 
		versions.

	NWBIND						Krishnan Gopalan

		Allows conversion of user accounts in a Netware bindery to a 
		LAN Manager UAS.  Runs on an MS-DOS workstation with LAN
		Manager 2.1 Netware Connectivity installed.
			
	PTREE						Brendan Dixon

		Command line Permit Tree utility.  Includes AND and OR 
		capabilities.  Runs on MS OS/2 servers.

	RUN						Matthew Powell

		Allows apps to be launched from logon scripts.  MS-DOS
		machines.

	SC						Stephen Hou

		Allows serial port settings for COM4-COM9.  MS OS/2 machines. 

	SVAR						Dan Perry

		Provides system variables (e.g., USERNAME, COMPUTERNAME) as 
		environment variables for use in batch files.  MS-DOS and 
		MS OS/2.


	TOOLBAR						Kevin Schofield

		Alternative user interface for MS Windows workstations.  
		Centralizes logon/logoff, file connections, and print 
		connections.

	UNUSE						Kathy Prince

		Allows user to disconnect from multiple network 
		connections.  Runs on MS-DOS and MS OS/2 machines.
